Hoi An Farm Business Household (An Farm) currently owns 3,000 m² of organic herbal garden and cooperates with local farmers for an additional 5,000 m², growing more than 30 varieties of herbs each year, hand-processing 50 products and welcoming 1,800 tourists. The biggest bottleneck holding back the leap is the drying stage: 40% of the output is moldy or termite-ridden due to complete dependence on the sun, while 4-5 star hotels and export markets require products to be evenly dried, bacteria-free and retain 95% of the active ingredients.
The innovative project “Herbal Harmony” has been approved by the ST4SD program, identifying the immediate investment in a low-temperature dryer with integrated UV light as a breakthrough solution: drying at 40-55 °C to preserve essential oils and polyphenols, while killing 99.9% of mold with UV-C rays without chemicals. With only 20-25 kg/batch, the machine will help An Farm triple its drying capacity (from 8 kg/day to 25 kg/batch), meet fixed orders from 10 Hoi An resorts, achieve international organic certification and expand global online sales channels. This small machine will change the entire value chain: from clean fields to fragrant cups of tea on international guests’ tables, while creating 5 more stable jobs for local female workers and reducing 100% of plastic waste from old packaging. Therefore, purchasing the dryer is not just buying equipment, but buying a sustainable future for the entire Hoi An herbal ecosystem.
