Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort is one of companies receiving the green certification from Quang Nam province and announced as the first resort without plastic waste in the area. Although starting her business with rose-based products, Nguyen Thi Phuc \u2013 owner of Phuc Nguyen Rose, always has a great passion on kumquat trees \u2013 one of the native plants of Cam Ha commune. Turning her thoughts into action, she has developed community-based tours and sold products made from kumquats such as dried kumquats and kumquat tea with dried plum. Tourists visiting her farm can plant kumquat trees, learn about layering branches and shaping trees, prepare and enjoy drinks made from kumquat fruits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn 2023, dried kumquats were granted 3-star OCOP (\u201cOne Commune, One Product\u201d) certificate. It is a driving force for Phuc Nguyen Rose to develop products made from Cam Ha kumquats and become one of Hoi An\u2019s specialties brought home by tourists. <\/figure>\n\n\n\nMeanwhile, recognizing the increasing demand for clean food among tourists, Mr. Pham Vu Dung – owner of Rose Travel Service and Hoi An Chic Hotel – has implemented a farm-to-table model with the Hideaway Garden restaurant. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience with clean, fresh, and healthy food and drinks. Additionally, tourists can experience the life of a farmer by digging, planting, and cooking with fresh ingredients sourced from Hideaway Garden’s organic farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Dung hopes that this model will add a new experience for tourists and increase the value of Hoi An tourism. “Cam Ha Commune is one of the communes with a long-standing agricultural tradition in Hoi An, with two famous craft villages: Cam Ha kumquat village and Tra Que vegetable village. The location of Hideaway Garden, situated between these two points, serves as a bridge, connecting the two craft villages,” Mr. Dung shared. “We want to develop into a model, spreading and replicating it to the community to develop the local economy and contribute to making Hoi An a green destination for tourists.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participation of the tourism community plays an important role in the process of green transformation and building a sustainable destination brand for Quang Nam province. The “Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development in Vietnam” (ST4SD) project is currently researching and planning to support Quang Nam province in updating the green tourism criteria and developing sustainable tourism models and products in Cam Ha Commune, Hoi An City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
