DONG THAP – On 11th December 2023, the ST4SD project had a working session with the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, chaired by its Deputy Director Le Quang Bieu, and representatives from Tam Nong district and Sa Dec city, tourism clubs, and Tram Chim tourism promotion center.
ST4SD representatives shared the 4-year plan to collect feedback and get more information on the province’s tourism for its technical experts.
The department’s representatives shared about their strengths and the provincial strategy for product development based on its natural and agricultural advantages. They proposed to choose Tam Nong district and Sa Dec city to be the two targeted destinations and suggested ways to implement the ST4SD project the most effectively in the province.
The two sides agreed on the project’s implementation plan for 2024, focusing on organizing the provincial Green Tourism Forum, supporting the tourism development plan until 2025 and guideline towards 2030, product and sustainable destination development in Tram Chim and Sa Dec, and marketing initiative plan and proposal for human resource training.
Dong Thap is one of the three localities selected by the ST4SD project to implement activities aimed at promoting sustainable and comprehensive development of tourism in Vietnam. The ST4SD project is funded by the Swiss Federal Economic Office (SECO) and is co-implemented by Helvetas Vietnam and the Center for Rural Economic Development (CRED).
