ST4SD initiated development of Swiss Executive Hospitality Training program

DA NANG – From 26 February to 1 March 2024, in Da Nang, Mr. Jean Baptiste Berguerand – Senior Consultant of Switzerland’s EHL Hospitality Business School – and representatives of the four pilot training institutes (namely National Economics University, Van Lang University, Saigon Tourism College, and IBH Academy) attended a technical workshop to discuss the development of the Swiss Executive Hospitality Training program (EHT).

This event was organized to initiate the development of the EHT program for mid- and high management staff in the hospitality industry, one of the expected outcomes of the “Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development project in Vietnam” (ST4SD).

Local experts, who have rich experiences in the hospitality industry, shared valuable ideas to develop the Swiss EHT program that follows international standards and meets the Vietnamese context. 

Besides, the ST4SD project organized a training course for promising facilitators from the 4 pilot institutes. Within 5 days, Mr. Berguerand provided the participants with teaching methods to motivate learners and instructed them to practice standardized skill enhancement exercises. Upon completion of the course, the attendants could be awarded the globally recognized certificate by EHL.


The participants of couse highly appreciated the practicability and high applicability of the course in Vietnam. In particular, the professionalism and strong compliance of the EHL instructor supported the Vietnamese trainees to increase awareness of compliance on standards of lessons, thereby enhancing quality of training and trainees. 

Mr. Bui Xuan Phong, Chief Operating Officer of KLC Group cum representative of Van Lang University, said: “As a corporate trainer with more than 10 years of experience training and facilitating for many enterprises and educational organizations in Vietnam, I still find new ways of thinking and new methods in the certified facilitator course of the ST4SD project. I fully believe that with the methodical and professional implementation of the program, from preparing a team of local trainers from the industry to researching and drafting content appropriate to Vietnamese practices, The ST4SD program will certainly reap the expected achievements and contribute effectively to the goal of improving the quality of human resources in Vietnam’s hospitality industry.”

The workshop helped participants to upgrade and access additional professional skills at an international level. I think the Swiss EHT program servces as a foundation to support Saigon Tourism College in continuing to develop, expand, and sustain diverse training models with international standards, thereby providing high-quality human resources for the labour market,” Mrs. Tran Thi Que Chau, Vice Dean of Hospitality Faculty at Saigon Tourism College.

With valuable experience from EHL – the best hospitality management universities in Switzerland and worldwide, the Swiss EHT program will certainly contribute to improving knowledge and skills for the high-quality human resources in the Vietnamese tourism sector. 

The ST4SD project, financed by the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), is implemented to make Vietnam’s tourism sector more sustainable and inclusive by focusing on the development of tourism ecosystems.
